Jumaat Mubarak!! Muslims, Why Is Dancing & Singing Not Part Of Jumaat Service? (Best Explanation Wins)

Is this why we have more Muslim youths porting into Christianity?

Jumaat Mubarak to all Muslims on Naijaedit, I pray this won’t be your last.🙏

Last weekend, I bumped into a friend whom I have seen for a very long time. It was during our discussion that I got to know Faroq is now a Christian.

“What happened, why did you change to be a Christian?” I asked with utmost curiosity

“Islam is boring jare, no singing and dancing, all you do is just observe solat, listen to sermon and that’s all”. He answered.

It was when he said this that I remembered Faroq’s interest in the art of singing, dancing, and playing of musical instruments when we were much younger but I never thought he could because of this turn his back to Islam.

At this point, I begin to reason with him, singing & dancing are not part of some important aspects of Islam practice like JumaatEid celebrations and all. It’s just to Observe Solat and read Quran, that’s all.

Imagine a Jumaat Service with a special performance from a Muslim Gospel Hip-Hop artiste or even A Joint Praise And Worship session with all musical instruments present.

Singing and Dancing are only done on very special occasions by Muslims, it does not seem to be an essential part of Islam.

To all Muslims here on Naijaloaded, let’s enlighten ourselves on this

All songs (al-ghina’) are haram. Based on the definition that we accept, al-ghina’ is the entertaining expression by way of tunes that are common to those who provide entertainment and amusement.

In this prohibition, we should include the recitation of the Holy Qur’an, supplications (du‘as), and songs of praise of Ahlul Bayt (a.s.) uttered to the accompaniment of those tunes [that are used by the entertainers]. The prohibition of reciting other non-entertaining expressions —like songs intended to lift the morale [of fighters]— is based on compulsory precaution.

However, the tune that cannot be described as such is not haram by itself.

Q.1 : Muhammad said pray as you see me praying. However, Muhammad didn’t sing nor dance during jumaat service that is why singing and dancing is not part of jumaat service.
Q.2. Yes, Singing and Dancing is Haram in Islam because Quran said :
And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e. music, singing) to mislead (men) from the path of Allaah…” [Luqmaan 31:6]

However, there are some set of Muslims who permit singing. But you will not use musical instruments

This is what a Muslim will never do, and I always see Christian doing this and now see it as the way your pastors told you to do.
So I don’t blame you, but blame does who lead you.

My religion taught me that I am not a good Muslim if I can’t tolerate other people’s religion or theology.

I am ashamed of you.
